At Taza, the community is envisioned to be rooted in story, spirit, and a deep respect for the land it calls home. Located on Tsuut’ina Nation, Taza is developed in close collaboration with Tsuut’ina members and Elders to reflect Tsuut’ina culture, heritage, and enduring connection to the land. Whether you’re visiting for the day or planning to call Taza home, this is a one-of-a-kind community that is shaped by the richness and presence of Tsuut’ina culture.

Celebrating Culture Through Art and Place
From its vibrant murals to its thoughtful community planning, Taza integrates Tsuut’ina Nation culture in a variety of ways. These efforts are guided by the Tsuut’ina Language and Culture Advisory Working Group, a collective dedicated to ensuring that the Nation’s stories, language and customs are meaningfully embedded into Taza’s design.
One of the most recent and exciting works is a gallery of rotating art featured at the Taza Park Sales & Marketing Centre. This welcoming space not only introduces visitors to Taza’s long-term community vision but also showcases a diverse set of artwork from talented Tsuut’ina artists.

Meet Stephanie One spot: Artist, Curator and Cultural Advocate
Stephanie One Spot, a seasoned artist from Tsuut’ina Nation, is the artist curator for the Taza Park Sales & Marketing Centre. Stephanie plays an important role within the Tsuut’ina Language and Culture Advisory Working Group, helping guide how culture and community are reflected in the artistic aspects of the development.
Stephanie says, “Every artist brings a unique perspective to the stories they tell through their artwork, sharing personal stories through their individual style. I hope that everyone who takes the time to view these pieces leaves with a deeper understanding and appreciation of our beautiful culture.”
Stephanie and her team are preparing to curate a second series of artwork, which will provide an opportunity for emerging and seasoned Tsuut’ina artists to gain exposure and recognition. Visitors will also be able to purchase curated pieces, offering a meaningful way to support Tsuut’ina artists. From bold contemporary works to traditional expressions, the exhibit is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous creativity, culture, and continuity.

Taza’s Future Street Names That Tell a Story
As Taza Park continues to take shape, one of the most meaningful elements being finalized is the naming of its streets. In close collaboration with the Tsuut’ina Language and Culture Advisory Working Group, all street names within the development have been inspired by the culture and translated into the Tsuut’ina language. These names were thoughtfully reviewed and confirmed by the Tsuut’ina Cultural Advisory Working Group. This initiative is a meaningful reflection of the Nation’s language, history, and identity—ensuring the land speaks with the voice of the Tsuut’ina people and culture.

Dazzling Live Painting by Keegan Starlight
Anyone who attended the Sales & Marketing Centre grand opening was rewarded with a front seat view of live painting with Keegan Starlight. Keegan is a long-time artist from Tsuut’ina Nation, and has been professionally making art for over 17 years, selling many original artworks to people around the world. Keegan specializes in portraiture and murals of animals in landscapes.
In addition to live painting, Keegan designed a colouring page for kids to enter a colouring contest at the event, with prizes generously donated from our friends at Pur & Simple – Buffalo Run, Fit Foundation, and Children’s Dental Health Centre.
