Respecting the
Land and Culture

At Taza, our approach to development is guided by Tsuut’ina culture, language and traditions. All who choose Taza become part of this vision.

Preserving Tsuut’ina culture

Each of our community villages is shaped by the Nation’s vision for a sustainable future, rooted in respect for the land and its people. Taza works closely with the Tsuut’ina Nation to keep the development connected to its cultural and spiritual roots.

Tsuut’ina Development Authority (TDA) role
The TDA oversees Taza’s planning, development and operations, so that all projects align with the cultural and governance practices of the Tsuut’ina Nation.

The TDA collaborates with Taza and the Cultural and Language Working Group to review the opportunities or proposals to incorporate Tsuut’ina traditions into the development. This can include elements such as street names, art installations, and language translation, as well as marketing efforts that reflect the Nation’s heritage. For more information, contact the TDA at [email protected].

Ceremonial blessings
For milestones like tenant launches or new construction phases, Tsuut’ina Elders lead ceremonial blessings. These blessings acknowledge the sacredness of the land and the importance of cultural integrity. For ceremonial appearances or acknowledgements, contact our community relations team at [email protected].

Cultural artifacts
Taza is committed to respecting and preserving Tsuut’ina Nation’s cultural values. To support this, Taza works in partnership with the Cultural and Language Working Group, formed by the Tsuut’ina Development Authority (TDA). This collaboration, which includes Tsuut’ina citizens, Elders and artists, provides guidance to ensure that cultural artifacts and heritage are thoughtfully considered and protected. Taza  follows a strict artifact protocol to ensure that we preserve important objects for future generations.
