Catch a Dazzling Nighttime Display at the Water Reservoir
A vital piece of infrastructure that provides a reliable water source for the surrounding community, the Taza Park Water Reservoir is more than meets the eye. A gem in its own right, the water reservoir provides a reliable water source for surrounding communities and helps to address increased water demands. Serving more than 16,000 local residents, the reservoir reflects Taza and Tsuut’ina Nation’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
Beyond its infrastructural significance, the water reservoir is also culturally significant, incorporating rich Indigenous heritage into its design. By day, the public structure can be likened to a beaver’s dam—a nod to Tsuut’ina Nation’s history of being known as “Beaver People.” Using western red cedar logs, the water reservoir’s design symbolizes the Indigenous connection between culture, land, and water.

By night, the public structure becomes an awe-inspiring light display, mimicking the northern lights. Using a Digital Multiplex (DMX) lighting system, the reservoir’s captivating light display is a sight to behold, offering visitors a glimpse at one of Taza’s hidden gems. Stop by Taza Park after dark to experience the reservoir in a whole new light.
