Introducing Herb Crowchild, Taza’s newest Tsuut’ina Engagement Liaison, a role that reflects his deep connection to Tsuut’ina Nation and his passion for connecting people and perspectives.

As a proud Tsuut’ina Nation member, Herb brings a deep understanding of community, a lifetime of relationship-building, and a strong sense of purpose to this new role. Prior to this position, Herb worked in many connection-focused roles, including as an Executive Director for Tsuut’ina Nation, helping to educate and advocate for the development of the Southwest Ring Road while developing forward-looking initiatives for The Nation.

As the Tsuut’ina Engagement Liaison, Herb plays a vital role in supporting the collaborative and evolving relationship between Tsuut’ina Nation and Taza. With a shared commitment to transparency, Taza is dedicated to creating space for dialogue, sharing knowledge, and ensuring that feedback from the Nation is heard and meaningfully incorporated. Herb describes his role as to “watch, listen, and respond”—a reflection of his strengths and an approach that helps ensure Tsuut’ina voices are respectfully represented and engaged throughout the development process.

His work includes connecting with Nation Elders, facilitating engagement opportunities, and helping ensure that Tsuut’ina is not only informed but actively involved as the project progresses. Taza is committed to supporting opportunities that contribute to Tsuut’ina’s economic prosperity, while fostering ongoing communication and collaboration every step of the way.

As he begins this new role, Herb feels this role is a natural fit, bringing him back to what he’s most passionate about.

“I’ve always been a connection person. Connecting people to people, ensuring Nation voices are heard, and building understanding—that’s what I’ve always loved.”

Above all, Herb is driven by a vision for the future. “What I look forward to most,” he says, “is watching our talented youth develop, creating new possibilities for their futures and helping build a lasting legacy for Tsuut’ina Nation.”
